He, in My Eyes - An Admirer

In hundreds of newsrooms across our country there are men and women who are creating journalism of excellence day after day, year after year, throughout their careers. But the sports media in India, especially in West Bengal, that till recently remained somewhat laclusture, has suddenly become alive, vibrant and colourful with the energy, commitment, professionalism and love, that he has imbibed into it.

Gautam Bhattacharya, the great Sports Journalist, presently serving The AnandaBazar Patrika, as its Sports Editor can be described as the first man to bring altogether a very different dimension in Sports Journalism. A flavour that we were missing in it for years.

Along with Print media, the electronic media now a day has started getting his hallmark journalistic imprint. And his presentation has started entering into a conflictzone with his skill of writing. Wandering, which one to be kept ahead!

And on every 10th of April, I do make a little prayer "God, keep him happy, prosperous, and energetic and creative so that we can get a lot more from him."

How could you not want to do anything that he asks for? How could he not inspire you? How could you not want to be like him? He is the ultimate professional, ultimate team leader, and the ultimate journalist.

Writing a tribute is a wonderful way of expressing our love and appreciation and respect to those we value. Writing a very personal expression of thankfulness using specific traits and recollections although is really not ( as I have not faced him personally as yet) possible for me but still I am doing this on behalf of all who really have an impact of him on their life and I am doing so from an urge that swells inside me everyday, to show him my admiration and respect.

I write this Tribute to say a big "thank you" for being born during my lifetime

*Congratulation!
Congrats for the SJFI Award of "Best Sports Writer of Bengal" and for publishing the "Best News of Bengal" .

We are proud of you.

Its very true that Gautam Bhattacharya has added a new dimension to the sport journalism in west bengal, few things is really admiriable: the way he touches the pulse of the news and the way he represents it is really good. He keeps good stats and analyzes things in from a different point of view, but i feel ABP also has projected him, initially i used to think him as a very old guy with tons on experience. ABP allows to write more once u reach that experience level but its good that for a change they are giving publicity to young journalists. One thing that i dislike about him is adding sentimental sentences without facts in his articles, they are simply not needed, probably people likes it but i feel many a times its unecessary, without that also his writing will be as good as that.

Gautam da is a good journalist no doubt about that .. but recently he has totally flipped .. few days ago he wrote a letter to shah rukh khan in anandabazar which was illogical & disrespectful .. he has no right to criticise the owner of the kolkata knight riders team .. this act of his has made him lose the respect of most youngsters of kolkata .. gautam da carry on writing columns but please don't dare to hurt people's feelings anymore .. and very soon all ur points said in that letter are proved wrong .. then i'll hope that u'll give an apology in anandabazar to shah rukh khan .. get well soon sir ...

No my dear.So far Goutam Da has written about SRK is write. Are you from Kolkata?Have you seen the things which SRK has done with our local boy Sourav?Do you think that it is correct? If SRK was determined to remove Sourav from captaincy then why he had done the advertisements with Sourav? Why in front of national media in his house he told that Sourav is the only captain of the team? Then in SA he removed Sourav from captaincy just before 2 days from the start of the tournament. Why he said that he was not going with multiple captaincy theory? But at South Africa he did not protest when coach applied this theory in every practise match?Do you think that SRK can insult Mr Gavaskar in front of media?Did you read the language of SRK to Goutam Da?

FOR MORE READ THE ARTICLE BELLOW

SHARUKH :- THE CULPRIT
Hey………..Mr Sharukh Khan are you seeing the condition of your team? There are no binding in the team. Every one is playing like a child except one person. Do you know who is the culprit? It is you. You are the person who is responsible for this poor condition of our dream team KKR. Do you know who is the highest run getter of your team so far?Who is most impressive player of your team? The answer is SOURAV GANGULY. Dont think that we are saying this as we are people of Kolkata & blind Sourav supporter. Ask any one in South Africa. Ask the cricketers of other team. Every one will give the same answer. But you & your so called “Support Staff” had sacked this person from captaincy. After making lots of advertisement using the image & charisma of him you cheat him. We know that your first choice was Mumbai. Then Mr Sharukh, could you do these thing with Sachin? Could you tell Sachin that you want to give all the powers to coach not to captain? Do you think that what could then happen? Every people of India would kick you out of India. Do you remember that you said “I want to give every opportunity to the Support Staff so that they cant complain.” What is the meaning of this Mr Sharukh? Is it that you & your support staff want to experiment multiple captaincy theory, keeping without pad and lots of things in this IPL & not to win the tournament? Have you heard the comments of Sachin, Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev about multiple captaincy theory of your most faithful person? What will you say now? Is it that these people do not understand T20 like Sunil Gavasker? Is there any confidence in your team? All are scared. You have sacked DADA from captaincy just two days before the start of the tournament. While all the teams send back there unnecessary players & support staff before the start of the tournament you are doing these in the middle of the tournament. Sending Bangar & Akash back to India do you know what message you have said to the players of your team? Every one are scared that if they cant perform well they may get the same treatment. For this they are taking extra pressure and loosing their natural game. Have you seen the face of Ishant Sharma? He has come to the tournament just after playing a good tournament in New Zealand. But now his confidence is at the bottom. He is complying against your captain. Not only for Ishant. Every one of your team is at the same condition. The person who should come up in front & take the pressure is only taking notes in his laptop sitting in cold room. Do you remember last IPL? DADA WAS PLAYING GOOD INNINGS. HE WAS TAKING GOOD WICKETS. YOU WERE DANCING JUST BESIDE THE GROUND & CHEERING YOUR PLAYERS. EVERY PEOPLE OF EDEN WAS SHOUTING “DADA ……..DADA……DADA….” & “ SHARUKH……SHARUKH…..SHARUKH….”. WHAT A DREM SCENE IT WAS. WHEN WE HEARD THAT YOU WERE BUYING KOLKATA TEAM WE ALL DREAMED FOR SUCH SCENE. YOUR TEAM DID NOT DO WELL. BUT WE WERE NOT UNHAPPY. BECAUSE WE SAW THE JOSH, SPIRIT, THE MADNESS IN THE TEAM. WE WERE SURE THAT NEXT YEAR WE WII DO WELL.
But from the beginning this year everything were wrong. No planning for opponents was made. Every time you, your coach and & your team were at the headline of media for continuous wrong decision. T his year we are not seeing any hope for semifinal. But if you want to do well send back Buchenon & other Australian coaches of your team & give back the captaincy to Sourav. Otherwise all of your dream for KKR will sail into GANGS.

So I agree with Goutam Da at every point.
Goutam Da keep on writing these. We are with you.

Gautam Da is a special talent...An inborn quality of knowing the psyche of his own people!!I mean..The Bengali Middle class!!
It's so amazing the way he can build up a point of view on anything or everything..As if He is a "bagpiper from Hamilton" and we all just a blind follower of him!!Trust me..He can control the mind of Bengali middle class the best way one can ever imagine!!I told the same thing to him when we met in "North American Bengali Conference" this time in San Jose..Gautam Da keep going..and keep taking us to the wonderland of sports and fairytales!!Let us believe that we also share the same dressing room with Saurav or Sachin.or having same breakfast or doing ”Adda” with them!!!Trust me sports journalism can never be so romantic and passionate!!!
And yes..one thing I must admit you are the person who made me dream of being an NRI and carry the Indian tri color from Kingsmid to Port of Spain or Eden park to Edgbaston!!!If you are not the "Dream Marchent" who else...
